LJUBLJANA – An ancient city, but young at heart.

Ljubljana is one of Europe’s greenest and most liveable cities, boasting a friendly café culture by day and vibrant nightlife after the sun sets.  The European Green Capital title (2016) has placed Ljubljana on the map as one of the European cities that are aware of the significance of environmental and social sustainability and are taking concrete measures to address issues in this field. Some advantages of Ljubljana include chemically untreated tap water, main venues within walking distance, and local food produce within easy reach.

Ljubljana has been actively present on the European conference map for more than thirty-five years. Its positioning has been supported by the strong scientific potential generated by the University of Ljubljana, alongside a host of research and scientific institutes (Jožef Stefan Institute, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, National Institute of Chemistry, UNESCO Centre for Chemical Studies, etc.).

Equally important when highlighting Ljubljana’s assets as a meetings destination are the active participation of our scientists and other experts in international associations, the inclusion of Slovenia and its representatives in international, intergovernmental, and professional organisations, the stable economic and political situation of the country, and its central geographic position in Europe.
